In the wonderful city of Kiev, the pearl of historical museums, is another beautiful old building in which the National Museum of Ukraine is located. Schille developed and implemented the project of a two-story building, which housed the well-known educational center in those days under the name “Paul Galan College”. Then, in 1986, they opened national museum of literature. The museum's collection contains more than eighty thousand exhibits of spiritual treasures of past years. Every person, from an early age to an old age, draws a lot of useful information from such sources. Children learn the magical world from read fairy tales, improve the knowledge of good and evil, learn the truth of values.

Looking at this building, you involuntarily plunge into the last century, you begin to feel exactly that atmosphere of being, and, having visited the memorial department of the museum, you are even more convinced of this. The old interior of the former collegiate building clearly shows visitors the beauty and originality of that time, and from the presented literary material they learn about the College itself and what is connected with its activities.

The collegiate hall has been preserved almost intact. Wooden cabinets are colorfully located on the sides of the walls, book racks are perched next to them, the stairs of that time, windows with balconies, and even parquet floors have been preserved. The whole special atmosphere reigning here, conducive to memories, is just right for arranging an exposition devoted to the history of the Galaganov family. The head of the family, Grigory Galagan, who devoted his life to serving the Ukrainian people, was the initiator and patron of the creation of a private educational institution, and now a museum.

Galagan opened a college for boys with his own money, his wife helped him in this noble cause. She took care of the children - collegians, as her own sons. Their only son died in his youth, therefore, in memory of him, the school was named after him. The exposition about the life and work of Gregory Galagan presents photographs, documents and various exhibits.

The Museum of Literature hosts various cultural festivals, meetings, and awards for outstanding contributions to literature. Some writers give presentations in the literary halls. Artists, writers, scientists arrange thematic evenings in the halls of the museum. Fans of modern literature, a school of ethnic studies, representatives of the music lounge, literary and art studio consider the museum their home.

In the museum halls there are unique old editions dated to the eleventh century, this is the “Word about the law and grace” and “The collections of Prince Svyatoslav”, as well as “The Word about Igor's Regiment” and “The Tale of Bygone Years” dated to the twelfth century.

In addition to ancient editions, the museum has many exhibits of Ukrainian modernist writers, banned until 1986. So the museum has a diverse presentation of the history of Ukrainian literature, starting from ancient times and ending with our days.
